Community Larder
The Community Larder is a small, volunteer-supported store of food stuffs and toiletries and is open to everyone in the community to use. It works on the principle of "Take what you need and leave what you can!"
It is situated at the Black Isle Leisure Centre in Fortrose (to the left of the main entrance) and is stocked with:
-
Non-perishable, unopened food and drink items
-
Home-grown produce
-
Sanitary products and toiletries
-
Donated books, CDs, DVDs and puzzles
The Larder is extremely well used and is regularly restocked by BIC staff and volunteers. Much of the food inside would go to landfill if not shared in this way. There is some stock that is particularly popular. We are very grateful for donations of jam, dried milk, tea, coffee, sugar and toiletries.
Anyone can place donated food (non-perishable) items in the box beside the Larder or outside the BIC office. If you would rather give a financial donation, we can make sure to spend it on re-stocking. Please post through the office door in the Leisure Centre marked ‘For Community Larder, Black Isle Cares’.
Volunteering for the Community Larder
Volunteering is a hugely rewarding experience and if you have some time to spare, then we would love to hear from you. Further information is available here.
